I started Bad Seed Repairs as the next step in my career, or what I call just touching guitars. I started playing guitar at age 10 and fell in love. I loved ’80s hard rock, and Appetite for Destruction by Guns N' Roses will forever have my heart.

While completing a Bachelor of Audio at SAE, I started touring with bands as a guitar tech. Don’t ask me how I got into it—right place, right time? You’ll have to ask someone else.

From there, I spent 10 years touring with some of Australia’s best bands, from The DMA’s and The Delta Riggs to Jebediah, Dope Lemon, and The Rubens. If they’ve been played on triple j, I’ve probably worked with them.

Five years ago, I started my journey down the professional guitar repairer/luthier road. I started working at Turramurra Music, repairing guitars. Over that time, I learnt how to properly repair guitars and electronics from my mentors, Dave Scotland and Matt Robinson. That included headstock breaks, refinishing, refrets, woodwork, electronics wiring and repairs, basic and complex setups, Evertunes, and more. Thousands of guitars later, and here I am. You’d think I’d be able to tune a guitar by ear by now…

That led me to where I am now. I’ve started my own guitar and electronics repair business. Bad Seed Repairs is a nod to Nick Cave—to embrace the weird, the dark, the light, the crazy parts of yourself. I took a leap of faith and opened up on Glebe Point Rd, in the former building of ATA Records, the home of the late Cole Joye and the Jacobsen brothers.

I want to thank anyone who has let me touch their guitar, work on their guitar, or even just show it to me. To everyone new, welcome. I hope we can get to know each other, and that I get the honour to work on your guitar—to make it better than when it comes through the door, and to help it give you your voice for years to come.
